Autumn Apples

Yesterday was the first cool day of the season and we took full advantage of it. We planned all week to go to Apple Annie’s Orchard and pick apples…I’m just thrilled that the day was so cool.

We went into Willcox after picking apples and it was Rex Allen days so there were a lot of fun things going on.
The girls fed alpacas…it was their first time seeing one.
Now the question is…what should I do with all those apples? Rich is drying some, we’ll be eating some and I’ll be making apple butter…but that still leaves a lot to use up.

Halloween Crafts...and some Thanksgiving too!

I’ve started my “Dead” Halloween tree…I need to make a few ornaments and it will be all set.
This week I also bought the fabric and patterns for costumes for the girls and I. Youngest is going to be Little Red Riding Hood, Oldest is a Candy Corn girl, and I’m going to make myself an orange skirt with jack-o-lanterns around the bottom.

I made the
Bat Chandelier that I linked in my last post. (I used less bats)
After I make the costumes and a Halloween scarf for Youngest…this one is for Oldest...
…I’m going to be making these! Inspired by Rachel at Made with Love and Glue

Did you know that there are only 28 days until Halloween, 54 days until Thanksgiving, and 83 days until Christmas???????????

More Halloween!

I saw this cute idea on Martha Stewart's web site and just had to do it. She has lots of other fun ideas...and I'm sure I'll be trying them. :o)

It was so easy...I just cut out bat shapes and used double sided tape to stick them to the inside of the lamp.
My next project will be this cute Bat Chandelier it should be another fun and easy project for Halloween

Cinnamon Roll formerly known as Ella!

I spent the morning with my name sake today. It was so fun. First we had breakfast at Mc Donalds…she had a cinnamon roll and my hash-browns…both of them…I had nothing. We went to Target and bought her a new outfit…including shoes…and lip gloss…AND a tiara! (she’s 4 years old) She helped me pick out these salt and pepper shakers…
…how cute are they???

We went to the pet store where she scared all the fish by knocking in their tanks. After that we went to the grocery store where she picked out her lunch…a turkey pot pie. We came home and made candy corn cookies and fixed her lunch…

…that bright orange and yellow stuff in there is candy corn…yes, I let her put candy corn in her pot pie …because that’s the kind of auntie I am. :o) The only question is…should I let her mother know??? LOL

Halloween 2009

I have had some harvest decorations out since the 1st of September but I’ve started adding some Halloween decorations into the mix. :o)

My entertainment center hasn’t changed much since last year… (and the Ark is ALWAYS out)
...but I’ve done something different with the coffee table. I’ve taken my mother’s chip and dip tray, placed a Halloween whimsy jar and a candle holder on the chip side. I then filled the dip part with candy corn.
For the hutch in the kitchen I pulled a couple of other things from my mother’s decorations…this is the first year I have wanted to use any her things…you can’t see the girl scarecrow on top…but you can see the singing and dancing witch on the bottom. :o)
I made a Halloween garland and I really like it. I used tags from Green Acres Cottage on Etsy, a string of orange lights, green, black, and purple ball fringe, a spider and bat that I made from fun fur and pipe cleaners, and this idea for the stars! (It's eight feet long)
If you look in the very back of this photo you can kind of see my bat and jack-o-lantern lanterns…there are 4 of them. (And Rich's head)

I have other decorations throughout the house…and didn’t even show any of the ones in the formal living room…but I don’t want to make you sick of my home…Christmas time is coming after all...and I'll want to show EVERYTHING then…plus I take such crappy photos. :o)
